Retracement surveys were conducted for the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) at three separate sites in North Carolina in Region 4. Two surveys were completed in the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge, one near Stumpy Point, and one near Mashoes. The third survey was conducted in the Mattamuskeet National Wildlife Refuge in the waters along the north shore of Mattamuskeet Lake. Surveys involve all of the deed and record research, planning, reconnaissance, and adjoining owner contact necessary to conduct Boundary Surveys of U.S. owned properties. Projects include GPS control points, traverse and data collection, corner monumentation with references, line marking, plats of survey, property descriptions and reports. No encroachments were observed. Survey teams tied in all recovered monumentation and improvements necessary to analyze and determine the Boundaries.
